Rattle can jobby
Anyone used a rattle can to paint the car? O.o
I just got my baby resprayed, and dad wants his done, so we were going to do his at home.. I am going to try the headlight cover first, obviously I'll take my time with prep, but I am going to try a rattle can and see how it goes...
Anyone tried it? And don't knock it. It is an idea, and the paint is pretty ass anyway!

tried this on the hardtop (BRG, yurgh...) and it looked fairly good I thought, although it did tend to leave slight rain trails afterwards.

Make sure you prime it and scotch bright/sand it properly, Prepsol the surface before any paint or primer hits it (Prepsol is a wax and grease remover)
You want thin even coats to build up a couple of layers allowing drying time between each layer and then make sure you clear it if you want it to look half decent.
The more paint layers you built up the easier it is to polish up and remove imperfections before clearing, just don't over do the paint layers or it will probably all go horrible eventually. Same deal with the clear, build up the layers so you can buff out any small runs etc just don't over do it

That's the way I was thinking too! Plus I am starting with the head light cover, so if I screw it up, not to much damage was doneBorn_disturbed wrote:Make sure you prime it and scotch bright/sand it properly, Prepsol the surface before any paint or primer hits it (Prepsol is a wax and grease remover)
