Since my casual comment a few days ago, that I was looking for a bike for
summer, I have received some good advice, both on and off list, from a
number of list members. We have some keen motorcyclists among us!
So please indulge me while I say thanks to everybody and tell you that I
think I have achieved motorcycling Nirvana, well for me at least.
I have, for many years, hankered after a classic British Motorcycle, (yes, I
have already admitted that I am a bit daft, but I always loved the look of
them) and today I discovered that you can still buy, brand new, the 1965
Royal Enfield 500 Bullet!
These are still made from the original tooling, in India, and although they
lack a few desireable features of the original, like the oil leaks & those
wonderful Amal Carbs which poured petrol into the oil sump so that they
occassionally caught fire, they are very true to the original, but the
original as it would be built today, with modern tyres, lighting, ignition
etc.
They are very nicely put together and beautifully finished, they look
absolutely stunning and they start at $7500 brand new!
If you are interested, have a look at http://www.royalenfield.co.nz/
I see a "Euro-Classic" in my life fairly soon!
Regards
Eric

This is also off topic, but this thurs on TV 3 at 7: 30 they are doing a
count down of the the ten top bikes. Similar to last weeks programme I
would imagine which ranked the MX 5 at No 2
