Plastic Pocket when replacing stock radio
I just received and installed my "Radio Filler/Cubby Box Mk1" ordered
from www.mx5parts.co.uk (aka Scimitar International Limited).
Best possible solution: It fits perfectly, looks great, not like an
add-on. There's no substitute for a genuine Mazda part - and at
GBP17.50 it is worth it. (Order a couple of other nifty bits while
you're at it and the GBP9.21 shipping charge won;t seem like so much!)

Yes, now that I look at the invoice, they charged only GBP14.89, not
the GBP17.50 quoted (which I surmise included VAT). Clever folks!

That sounds like a very expensive piece of plastic! If that's UK pounds does
that not equate to about 75 or 80 bucks? I got one from the local wrecker from
a late 80's 626 for $5 [it's still a Mazda part] about 10 minutes trimming to
make it fit, a bit of silicone and you would'nt know the difference. I'm sure
there are plenty of other models that would be suitable, save your money.

Wild exaggeration on the currency conversion! The cubby actually cost
GBP14.89 = NZ$39.70. Sure its not cheap... but it is a perfect,
original fit... no bodgy trimming or silicone needed... and no need to
go rummaging around wreckers yards to find one.

Maybe I'm a bit out on the conversion, but if you use the figures you quoted
that I was replying to, of 17.50 plus 9.21 freight, at your conversion rate of
2.666, thats still over $70.
Vince.

Granted, Vince. And I did say that it wasn't cheap... but how do you
value your time searching through wreckers' yards for a part that then
needs trimming/alterations to make it fit? And I did amortise the
shipping cost by ordering a few other items which I convinced myself
that I just had to have!
To each his own approach!

I bought the same from MX5parts a couple of months ago. As Ross says it's a
perfect fit but not only that it is a little wider than the standard din so
you don't have a gap to fill at the bottom. Looks tres bon.
