I just dont see the point. You dont drive the car normally under 2500 rpm so sc has no advantage.
I would be interested to see what turbo cars you owned to put you off them. Things have moved a loooooooong way in turbo manufacture and engine management. A wrx td04 turbo will spool just as fast as sc and make more power.

Only cool thing about turbo for me is Anti-Lag systemsSLYDIT wrote:I just dont see the point. You dont drive the car normally under 2500 rpm so sc has no advantage.

I drive between 1500-2000 when eco driving and just crusing around, but to be honest its below 5000 and around 3500 where I need torque when drifting but Gymkhana is fine as it is.
Thats why I like the NA power curve, it basically just raises the stock curve from 3000RPM up with the best response. I dont need much more power and may not even need any more once I get a 6-speed.

Just thought I would post this up, few people linked it to me.
I am not really a fan of 4AGE ones butttt.

Its a lot cheaper the only thing is it wont be the same power gain as Jenvey ones. But Im sure once I hear them I can live with that.

when using ITB's go as big as you can. 45mm at a minimum for a 1600. dont forget that in the good ol days of carbs the size of carb was limited by the atomisation of the jets fuel through the venturi. with an injection setup all that is void because the injector is under pressure and atomises the fuel itself.

Maruha uses 40mm for 1.6 and Jenvey recommends 42mm.SLYDIT wrote:when using ITB's go as big as you can. 45mm at a minimum for a 1600. dont forget that in the good ol days of carbs the size of carb was limited by the atomisation of the jets fuel through the venturi. with an injection setup all that is void because the injector is under pressure and atomises the fuel itself.
I think for top end power that may be the case but torque down low and driveability could be different.
Havent seen a single build 1.6 using 45mm ITBs
I've just bought 4age silver top 42mm throttle bodies and trumpets off a mate. Will be getting the T3 adaptor plate from the states when funds allow. I highly doubt an extra 3mm for 45mm's is going to be worth going out of my way to find them, and then port match my adaptor plate.
Watch this space.
Not Doing it to be the fastest guy on the motorway on ramp, so before everyone tells me that turbo/sc is better. I don't care haha. Just want it for noise and a clean/bling engine bay.
YOLO or whatever the kids say these days.

ITB BUDDIES IT IS
Boom. Just what I was looking for. Mine is a 1600. So sounds like the right stuff has conveniently come into my possession2low2c wrote:i have just finished making a set of 45mm ITBs for my 1800 .
45mm are to big for a 1600 for low down power .
bigger is not always best my cylinder head guy has dunn allot of testing on his flow bench and on some race engines they make the ports smaller and achive more hp and torque.

Thought about an ECU?Bwarp wrote:I've got your back on the ITB stz bro
I just found the company in Japan that Fujiracing was getting ITBS off but I had to ask them a few questions.
The other thing is I emailed Maruha and they said to wait for a little bit as they are working on some big new development...

The whole power/size thing only applies to carbs. Carbs need airflow through the venturi to atomise the fuel correctly. With an injection setup the fuel is atomised by the 40psi fuel pressure. Shit even 1600cc fiat twin cams could run twin 48mm idf carbs.

Have a read of this. Big isnt always better and this explains it well. Also means more coming from Jenvey instead of me
