Overtook a Toyota GT86 on the way home to Titirangi (he was doing 55 and was annoying the **** out of me) and this lead to that and suddenly we ended up at Piha after a seriously fun drive. He let me take his car for a drive and wow, they are sooo unbelievably stable and fun!
I think it's time I traded in my car for the 86... Although we'll see how the car goes with the new suspension and sways this (or next) weekend (depending on container/customs). Wonder if Mr Shine will let me drive his S2000
I am more than keen to get some FI love after the 2L in the 86... Ah what a fun night. I should drive to Piha more often although I should also fix the adjustment on the headlights
Still lights up as much road as when I last attended a meet

Hmm... Is that 86 all stickered up down the side?Angreal wrote:Overtook a Toyota GT86 on the way home to Titirangi
If it is, I went past him about an hour ago out those ways having a little vent after work

He must be wondering what all these mad MX5's are doing out in the Waitaks. I think I saw him getting chased by a Cefiro/something lowered and turbo

You sure it wasn't a red mx with a black hardtop and running stupid rich?
More grunt than my car currently hasFurai wrote:Cant believe he let you drive it. Get one and you'll never win gymkhana though.Angreal wrote:I think it's time I traded in my car for the 86...
Also lower rear arms are weak and it has a Subaru motor

Somewhat ironic that he was also a lawyer who specialised in criminal law

I think it was Jeremy. He has a new Landcruiser and Toyota gave him the 86 to help persuade the wifeMr. Shine wrote:Oooh, did you catch his name? I'm a Registrar at Auckland District Court so know a lot of the criminal lawyers in Auckland, would be interesting if anyone I know secretly has an 86Angreal wrote:Somewhat ironic that he was also a lawyer who specialised in criminal law

Don't think it was an MX5, lights were too square plus the time you posted is too early. I didn't get home till 12.Angreal wrote: Yeah that's the oneToyota gave it to him for a couple of days to persuade his wife she wants the 86, not a Corolla
It was their last night with the car so they figured they'd take it for a mega drive

Angreal I think it probably felt more stable because of ride height and having soft springs with decent sways out the box. Around a track would be very different.
Also this is what I did in the weekend.
So went drifting at Hampton skidpan, first time I had driven there in 4 months and I got thrown straight into twin car action!
Great fun chasing people but real hard when you have no handbrake and 80 odd powers.
Anyway heres the vid, enjoy.

Anyone have a driver fender?

By the looks of all the pictures on mx5mart of various "miatasarus" parts being sold the only damage causing the car to be written off was the big dent when she went head on with a pole, the front fenders seem to be fine.chris wrote:Dammit look what bloody happens to your karma when I leave the country.
Haha I wonder if the fender is sweet..
