If you are careful you can rotate the pinion and count the number of rotations required to turn the axle/crown wheel once.

If you have the diff head out of the ally housing, there is a number stamped on the crown wheel which tells you the ratio. eg a 4.1 will be stamped "1245"

In theory I would turn the axle ten times and the crown would rotate 39 times for a 3.9 and 41 times for a 4.1. I guess I shall do that and report back tonight.

Has anyone seen the fucking drain/fill bolts on a 1.6L VLSD... Theyre fucking rediculous.

Fill bolt is siezed and is so fucking thin I can't even get a socket on it. Tempted to weld a 20mm nut to it...

I just counted mine by doing one rotation but counting several times to check(The holes make it easy).

So today I did the Sway bushes, feels a little better but I think I need bigger sways all around as the roll can be quite horrific.

Rolled one guard(Thanks Cole) but the other has bog in it so wont be touching that

Replaced my tail light and got that in.

Just did a compression test too, 175PSI, 175PSI, 185PSI, 175PSI. Not bad for a 200K motor...

Nice looks like fun. I can't bring myself to really try and drift mine in the dry, just feels too hard on it with the lack of power. Though you have 165's so that must help? I've got flabby 195/55/14's on the rear I'm hoping to be rid of soon.

When its wet its fine, dances around the place no problem. Mind you my rears can't handle wet roads so that helps.

I won't have that problem much longer though, not much point trying to throw it sideways when it will have 195/50/15 Toyo T1R's on it with stock power. I'll save my 14's for that.

Personally tyre width and pressure you can drive around the main issue is gearing, hence the 165/60/14s

All i do at these drift days is just take off my rear 15's and chuck on the stock daisy's with 185/60-14 supercats with 40 psi in them. Seems to be able to get the tail end out quite nicely.
@skillful, does your car have a torsen? i would highly recommend one if your trying drifting, viscous units suck.

I suspect it may do, because my 'practice' out where I live it seems to hold the rear out around the roundabout with both wheels going.

I can feel the difference between this one and my red one which definitely had a viscous unit. (It couldn't handle a wet skid pad and started peeling one wheel)

Well once I save up a bit of money I'll have to come out and give it a go, I mention saving money because I'm paranoid I'll break something. You get that mindset after owning euros for a few years..

how do you get a warrant with no rear reflectors?

ive thought about making something up using these parts from Hella..a 60mm unit surrounded by the led ring.for a total diameter of 112mm with a chrome trim ring.
could have reverse/stop on the inner set and tail lamp/indicator on the outer.

My WOF man hasn't said anything,at a stretch you could call the bumper side ones the reflectors.
You would be lucky if i clock up 3-400km between warrants,he knows it doesn't get used everyday,once a week,if you are lucky.And i don't drive it like a idiot to call attention to it...most of the time

We did this with my friends R1 in his tiny 1 car garage with the doors shut. Not the brightest idea we've had and that was at idle

I did that one boring Saturday at a mates Beaurepaires, put my old MX5 up on the lift, unbolted the middle section (thats worse) and took it up the motorway.

I had a grin on my face flooring it down the onramp as once I hit 7k revs it literally sounded like a rotor going flat out. Scared the shit out of the guy in his Silvia cruising along.

Chris sold that a while ago for some heavier slower euro trash

The drive home today made me decide to keep my little B6. Revving up so easy on the heel and toe downshifts then the BWARP in second gear coming out of the corner. I love it.

I am going to get a six speed though.

Petrol indicator is very negative E though...

I had a reasonably productive afternoon.
I started by realigning the headlamp covers with the bonnet (it had been bugging me for a bit) and then masked off and boot polished the sill rubbers and rear view mirrors which made them look a lot nicer.

continuing with my on going audio tweaking, i ripped the dust cloth out of the door speaker covers and added some insulating padded strip to eliminate vibration and reduce front cavity echo. end result => much nicer mid and high range from the front 2 speakers

I felt like that again when I got the car running on 4 cylinders again :p The car certainly sucks through a lot of petrol when you destroy the injector o rings.

Just think how much more fun it would be with more power and you blip down into second
