Quick question about lighting..
I had a quick look through LVVTA website and NZTA but I couldn't really find the answer I was looking for, I'm sure someone here can help.
Are park lights legally required on all vehicles? I'm assuming they are, so are they also able to be added in some other way?
Reason I ask is because I'm looking to buy some turn signal intakes which only come with an indicator installed, so I'd need to wire up a light possibly inside the duct.

i thought about the same issue. i was going to rig up small fog lights to the headlight stalk, the VIRM stated a parklight could fail on being dim/discoloured, has to be white light and has to work. but that is purely from memory. so aslong as they are there and work i dont think they would care
In which i trust, a cable ties a must

I dunno what the rules are for park lights but I had the connectors to put em in there, so I did, been in for about 2 years and it's never even raised an eyebrow when getting a WOF. Perhaps coz it looks 'factory'?Donovan wrote:Silly question, but how can you use the bumper reflectors as park lights, they are off to the side of the bumper, not facing forward. Don't the park lights need to face forward?
I just used the same bulb as when they were in the indicator, so let's be honest they are next to useless for anything anyway!

I would assume white so you can differentiate the front of the car from the rear - Helpful if you park on the side of the road and leave the park lights on so people dont drive into you car etcauthentic wrote:That could be easier then.. I did notice that they had a hole for a bulb to go into when I took them out to spray them black. What colours are park lights allowed to be?

Really? Huh that's weird, ive never come across a car without park lights of some description before ... although i havn't driven a NB ...Kieran wrote:I dont have park lights on my NB...
I have reflectors on the side but no lights in them
So what happens when you turn your lights on the first click? Do your rear lights turn on at least or does your light stalk not have 2 clicks/stages (just on and then pull for high beam?)

The hi/low bulb has a dim but its all in the one light
Thats kinda lucky on the NBs I guess no need to worry about it
The NB2s have three bulbs in the headlight - indicator, Hi, Low
Whereas the NB1s just have two - indicator and hi/low
sucks for you guys in the NAs that you have to have a park light seperate to the main housing
Could you mount some hellas in the airdam as far back as possible sorta hide them
