Thanks for the tips guys. I fought with the wiring for half a day to
get it all in place. The DSE system uses 5 wires to each door so it was
a bit of a mission. I removed the speakers from both doors and
disengaged the rubber wire cover from the door end and the car end. I
used a bit of stiff electrical wire and fed it through the rubber
channel first then put an end through in to the door and into the
interior. I then taped each of the five wires on to the feeder wire in
a row and pulled them through in to the door before connecting to the
actuators in the door. As the dash is out of the car it was easy then
to run the wiring alongside the existing loom with tape and cable ties
to make it neat. I am just trying to figure out how to connect my
Central locking module to the Alarm (Uniden VS1000XR) Anybody have
wiring diagrams for that model?
Still waiting for the heater core repair before throwing all the bits
back in to the car

For the wiring diagram, try e-mailing Uniden for it. I just got a copy of
the wiring diagram and handbook for my VSX2100 alarm a couple of weeks ago.
To interface to the 2100 (and probably yours as well) you will need the
Uniden interface kit (relays in a box) to control the actuators. I have not
installed my actuators yet, but have installed a gas lift strut on the boot
lid and the remote boot open on the 2100 works well (scares the cat when she
sleeps in the shade under the car though!)
Check out www.uniden.co.nz or e-mail service@uniden.co.nz for a pdf version
of the information you need.

Hi
I have a Miata Link in my NA which has developed an annoying fault.
For the first 15 minutes or so of driving the engine will occasionally
cut out completely for a couple of seconds, then come back in again by
itself. Can be very embarrasing, particularly when it happens on the
Auckland Harbour Bridge in rush hour!!!
It seems to be in the ignition side rather than the fuel side.
I sent the unit back to Link but, like most intermittent faults, it did
not do it when they had it on test.
I know it is in the Link rather than any other part of the car's
ignition system as the car was fine when I temporarily put the standard
computer back in.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this or can suggest how I can
faultfind the Link circuit?
Cheers
Keith

Remote central locking
Hi Rex
Thanks for the information - much appreciated. I have the dash back in
the car and no bits left over.
The central locking works a treat from key lock unlock from either door.
An excellent kit from DSE for $50 however the install is a mission
really for a DIY hack like myself.
The real reason for having the dash out was to fix the leaking heater
core which is done - had a split tank which Mount Wellington radiators
fixed for $60.
The DSE kit has two activation wires (brown and white) earthing either
of them sends a lock unlock signal. I will see if I can identify the
wires you suggest from the unit and connect up. I am assuming that the
control unit from DSE has relays built in as it can function stand
alone.
I'll let you know how I get on.

The colours on my VS2100XR are the same ie. Grey is ground output to lock,
Brown is ground output to unlock with Red being +12v. The output pulse is
0.4 seconds.
My supplier lists the SEA169 at a recommended retail of $33.69 so that will
give you some idea of what to pay. If you have no luck getting one then it
shouldn't be too difficult to build one.
The wiring diagram for mine was not available on their web site, but they
emailed it to me when I asked for a copy.

Hi Don, is there a set of small pins to plug something is (probably 4) on

The SEA169 has a 3 wire (Grey, Brown and Red) cable that plugs into a small
3 wire connector of its own on the VS2100XR. I assume it would be the same
on the VS1000. The 2100 outputs are rated at 200mA. The VS1000XR does have
the outputs for door locks according to the operating manual.

Remote central locking now goes - yay! I purchased the interface from
Repco - hooked it up and it did not work. All I actually needed was the
lead that plugs in to the alarm with the signal wires as the DSE unit
has the relays built in. When I connected the brown wire from the DSE
unit to the grey wire on the lead from the alarm and the white wire from
the DSE unit to the brown wire from the alarm lead all works perfectly.
Buying the interface to get the lead cost me $30 but the system works
fine. Anybody want a relay box?
Next project Auto down on Electric windows. This is fun.

Good to hear it works. Interested in your next project. My window auto up
works (after I cleaned the switch) but I assumed the auto down was faulty. I
assume from what you say that the auto down was not there to start with.
Auto up and down for both windows is what I want to achieve so will be
interested in your solution. I've rewired them so they work without the key
for convenience.

My car is a 1989 Eunos that had the push and hold electric window buttons. I
purchased one of the auto modules from a later vehicle from Ross Campbell at
MX5 Mart to give me the auto-down function - driver's side only. I did need
to create an extenion cable though as the original plugs in by the gear
knob, the replacement under the switch. The new module appears to be a
"complete' unit and not being that electrically minded, I could not see a
way to add the auto function to the passenger side window.
