For a 2.5L V6 200hp isn't particularly special.Gravelben wrote:KL-ZE or KL-DE? Same block, different heads, very different engine (200 vs 160 bhp)Timmo wrote:As an engine they are nothing special.

I like the one, "horsepower turns heads, torque turns wheels"
Although I love this practical explanation:
Understeer is when the front of your car hits the wall.
Oversteer is when the rear of your car hits the wall.
Horsepower is how fast you're going when you hit the wall.
Torque is how far you take the wall with you after you hit it.

Cool sunroof bro...
I have noticed most V6's don't make much power for the displacement, however they really go with some tuning. Also it depends on the car.
Like how the KL-ZE in stock form with 200 hp goes nicely in the MX5 (going by the youtube videos). Same with the VW's, take the V6 out of the heavier Mk3 and put it into the Mk2 and it flies.
But I've got an obsession with 1.6 turbos now after all the youtube videos, I love boost.

the old 3.3L is but the efi 3.8L isnt to bad compared to the power you can put through them my mates 3.8L has about 250HP with an exhaust, cold air box and a chipped ecu
Oh and a F*#@!!!!! load of torque gets sideways at 2K
you get the series 2 VY 3.8 these are the specs
205 hp (153 kW) and 230 lb·ft (312 N·m), better fuel economy, and 26 lb (12 kg) lighter overall weight (to 392 lb (178 kg)).

V8's the way to go if you are going down the cubic inch path, but a bloody expensive way to go if you go with the GM Alloy V8, believe me, my bank account is taking a bashing at the moment.Kieran wrote:I think if you want to boost use the stock motor if you want a v6 go for a v8 its just as much work
In hindsight, I can see why the Lexus 4.0 V8 has been a more popular conversion in NZ, much, much cheaper, might be just under half the HP of the LSx motors, but quarter of the price by time it is all going.
