Air flow meters & hoses

Post by WideOpenThrottle » Mon May 17, 2010 7:29 pm

Now that my turbo has booted out my airflow meter and filter box, it begs the question of what you guys do about relocation and plumbing as it seems there is no room. Hopefully it will be intercooled so I also need some help in that department - where to buy, what to do etc.
Thanks hugely.

you could get a link ecu and do away with it all together

most people who use the afm use a 180 degree bend and put the filter and afm over by the wiper motor

have a look at my cardomain in my signature.
you can see how i routed my oil feed line and pipes.
(in all honesty maybe you should have planned this a bit better before going all the way on the manifold.)..you are going to find it hard to get interccoling and drain lines in there.
And i would seriously advise in buying a shit load of heat shield and wrap for your hoses and brake lines. that amount of turbo manifold is going to cook everything within 300mm of it. (and there a LOT of it.)

Thanks slydit-just had a browse on your site, i too have the same thoughts on the heat that may be generated but also it could mean the manifold may act as cooling fins too if i can get air past it.
I will certainly be wrapping & heat shielding.I think i can keep the oil lines far enough away tho the the return may have to be metal & not rubber.
The guy who did my manifold is a specialist so i was at his mercy on what was done & i think time will tell if it it works or turns in to a nightmare!
