is amazing. Although I don't know how anyone would get 10L/100kms in
it... I can't get that in my V6 & I drive that nicely.
If it wasn't for the 302 badge, slightly flared guards, dual pipes & the
small bump in the bonnet above the belt housing (molded from a stainless
mixing bowl apparently, to pass the cert with a belt cover) you wouldn't
know it was anything special. It is very quiet, very subtle.
I hope he gets his price for it.
I've drooled over this car in detail... the work that has gone into ithttp://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 857323.htm

It does look very well sorted out, a beautifully modified car. But yep, I'd have gone with an GM LSx engine. A lot lighter (aluminum), more compact and much more power potential from what I hear.Gravelben wrote:That looks a very well built car, and I imagine rather entertaining to pedal. Not sure why they used the old 302 though, plenty of lighter V8s than that available.

If I ever blow my engine on my Mazdaspeed MX-5 (USDM) I'd certainly consider a LS V-8. I want to drive one, the rumor is they still handle great and are only a bit heavier than a BP powered MX-5. I even here that they weight distribution is better than on the Mazdaspeed/SE turbo cars. They say the transmission is were most of the weight is and that's near the center of the car! I want to drive one to see if the rumors are correct.
But the Ford 302 is tried and true in MX-5s so that's an advantage I guess.
