The intercooler treatment.

Post by Habanero666 » Sat Feb 02, 2008 7:20 pm

Atlast the front mount intercooler is plumbed up!

Thanks for the advise and humour on this one Slydit!
I ended up using mandrel bends; 2" on turbo outlet and 2.25" on throttlebody side, Talk about macaroni!!!

*********I want to screw the boost up, has anyone got a ball and spring boost controller for sale?**************

I have made a digital fuel controller pcm, that intercepts the air mass sensor signal and allows for +/- 20% fuel adjustment. So just bench testing it at the moment and final calibration.

if your going to go ghetto on the fuel management then get yourself some Nissan skyline 270cc injectors from an RB20DET..i think they are low impedance injectors so youll have to wire up a ballast resistor box to run them on the stock ecu..(easy to do)\\

also if you google "diy mbc" youll find a website on how to make a boost controller from air fittings etc for next to nothing

GHETTO???

Ha ha ha! Well yep I think so :D

I have got a turbosmart boost tee, so will give her a tweek up next week.
After plumbing the intercooler in I noticed a pressure drop of about 1.5psi....thus the need to give a bit more boost and fuel.
I will also fit the O2 clamp tomorrow and road test it down in Wellington.
I bench tested it and works great!

Have some more karma Slydit

depending on how much fuel you are dumping in at part throttle, you will have to adjust the clamp voltage to suit...to make your mixtures leaner you need to increase the voltage to say 0.42-0.45 volts or so...to make it richer set it down around 0.35-0.38 volts....by hooking up a GOOD digital multimeter to the oxygen sensors wire you can monitor your mixtures..im running at about 0.6volts raw voltage from the o2 sensor at part throttle which is about 13:1 AFR or so. it should go way high at around 0.85 volts or higher at full throttle over 4000rpm, meaning a mixture of under 12:1 which is what you want as you dont have good timing control.

thanks for the Karma! right back at ya! 8)

just noticed from your pic that you have your turbo oil feed coming from the intake side of the motor, was there a reason you didnt use the oil feed port on the exhaust side?

Just following instructions!

Post by Habanero666 » Mon Jul 20, 2009 7:20 pm

I have followed the instructions with this kit because....... If you study the oil flow path of the B6 engine, it makes very good sense to have a oil pressure sensor on the same line as the turbo feed. I value the life of my turbo as much as the performance

nissan rb20 det injectors are 280cc high impedance, but you can not use them they are 10.5mm on the top seal and mazdas are 11.0mm. i would segest toyota 3sge na injectors at 305cc or mazda gtx at 330cc.

i have the 3sge injectors seem to work well with my 12psi running at 84%dc.
taking about 1mm off the fuel rail spacers works well
550cc from a caldina gtt will be next for me some day (not sure about impedence though)
the toyota injectors seem to be rather cheap and work well with mazdas

I am running the high impedance purple top JC Cosmo triple pintle 550cc injectors, which are just straight swap over when using the Flyin Miata Link ecu set up. The shizzzz
