A bit more acceleration.
Hi everyone, I’m a new owner of a 2006 mx5. Until now I’ve never really been a car enthusiast but I love this car. I am interested in hearing what modifications I could have done (not a home mechanic) to get more acceration/power but without having to upgrade the suspension ect cetera. At the moment I don’t know a cold air kit from a turbo. As a non-specialist I would appreciate any comments, thanks.

Re: A bit more acceleration.
The NC has the usual range of go-faster goodies available for it. At the cheaper end there are aftermarket exhaust systems and cold air intakes. For bigger bucks, and bigger power gains, there are both turbocharger and superchargers kits. Unfortunately almost all of these parts have to be imported. Check out companies such as Flyin Miata, Good-win Racing, Supermiata.

I also own a 2005 NC. Mine has Maxim headers and an Autoexe exhaust, it feels a tiny bit quicker than other NC I have driven. Other than the exhaust there isn't much you can do to get more power unless you want to turbo or supercharge it.
There's a pretty healthy NC community on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/ncmiata/, they tend to be quite helpful. There's also the miata.net forums https://forum.miata.net/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=151
Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a very large online community for the NC in NZ, the NZ mx5 Facebook page is pretty much all NA and NB guys and these forums seem to have died down a lot.
