Does that require longer studs? (Just trying to mentally build up a list of things that would need to be done if I bought the SC off you :)

Never heard of a mx5 being supercharged from factory either. Fairly sure there is no such thing

i thought so also, but apparently when ordering a brand new mx5 you had the choice to tick a supercharger option, the mx5 was then sent to Mazda speed for fitment and tagging of the chassis. get you a picture soon

used at big hammer, heat gun and some rags rolled up into a ball for the opposite side of where I'm hitting. helps keep the shaping smoother plus the metal gets hot

Fairly rare. Not strictly factory, Mazdaspeed were still mostly independent from Mazda back then and sold performance kits and did conversions. It may well have been an option at some dealerships in Japan though.

need some input. Waste Gate actuator is hitting the head.
the manifold is cast iron.

i can extend the manifold out from the head via a spacer.
or i can have a 38mm waste gate flange welded to the manifold, get rid of the internal waste gate have it welded shut. < this is the option i think i will go for, can a 38mm flange be welded to the cast iron manifold or is there something specific i should know about welding to cast iron .

thanks

Can you not reposition the actuator body and manufacture a new linkage arm?
It is hard to see how the actuator is fixed in those pics

is it a greddy manifold? if it is then UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES weld it. they are crack prone enough as it is.
i would simply make a new mount bracket to raise the WG up a bit and clear the head.

i have decided to extend the waste gate actuator push rod further forward. should clear. will be far easier to do a custom job on the waste gate then try piss around with the manifold.

cheers for the information

A threaded coupling with locking nuts and a nice stainless threaded rod should see you right.

the angle will not be a problem as long as the peload on the spring is set properly. can the mounting braket bolt to the next bolt up on the compessor housing?

I would try to keep the angle similar to it's current position to ensure the sweep of the arm is not compromised don't be frightened to put a dog-leg into the actuator rod (a lot of oem stuff doesn't run a straight shot) and pull the actuator forward.

Don't weld an extyernal gate into the cast manifold - you could consider welding directly to the exhaust housing depending on the material used - but only as a last resort.

You probably also have room to window the cam cover if you know someone handy with a tig welder?
