Play DAYS are $135 and the Playday twilight evenings are $75.00.

The evenings are great fun and am looking to do some over the next few months. Racing around on track in the dark is a WHOLE new experiance and somewhat difficult but the lighter evenings of summer should be good..

What I learnt at Hamptons yesterday, is that when you completely exceed the boiling temp range on your brake fluid, you don't have any brakes - at all.

Not a nice feeling coming up to a corner, standing on stop pedal, and it just goes to the floor, and that car doesn't really slow down much.

What I learned at Hamptons is Donovan overheats his brakes when his top dog lap times are under (a bit of) pressure

and that he insists that his chrome bling wheels are not a factor..... :P

The bling wheels are not the factor, and once I get cooling ducting in there, you'll see how much of a factor they aren't

As for the top dog lap times, you still need to get into the 1:17's

How do you know what times you're running? Do you have lap timing gear in the car? GPS?

Yup, I have got an app on my iPhone that does the lap times, and have compaired it against someone keeping a manual track of my time, and it is pretty much on the money.

It's free for the basic version, but there is a pay for one of it, that allows you to analyse your lines, braking points etc, and if you have an OBD-II ECU, allows you to get all the info from that as well.

Why yes, Yes I do.

On my plan of things to get in place, was going to get one of those OBD-II to bluetooth adapters and get the full app running on my phone, but so many other things to sort out as well.

Just to add to the list, have found a double din stereo that also runs an Android OS on it, along with a OBD-II app for the android tablets, so that is also on the list, and with that, can display a whole pile of useless information on the screen that I don't understand, but it will look way cool.

Can do the average once my brakes are reliable, but I can't do 8 laps and full chat at the mo, and you know it, hence the reason for the request.

Average across best 3 laps.

Anyone else hitting Hamptons for the playday tomorrow?

Could someone tell me what GPS App people are using through their phones to record their lap times?
There seem to be a few available...

CMS Laptimer, but unless you have a iphone 4 or newer, you will need an external GPS antenna, cause the olders ones suck and aren't all the acurate. Even the 4's and newer they say to on the money, you need an external unit, but mine seems to be pretty right. There is a free version of CMS but if you want all the toys, you have to pay for the Pro version

I ended up using Racechrono, it had some good reviews....
I wish I used a stopwatch at the same time to check if it was accurate, it said it was using like 7 satellites so hopefully its reasonably good... :?

Best lap .... Drum roll please ... And baring in mind I know I brake too early & then coast for a split second before jumping on the gas .... and I know I'm a little way from my tyre's loss of adhesion threshold but I don't really want to kill them ... And it is a stock 1600 with 165000km on the clock! ...
1:32.5

And what did I learn?
That carrying more spare parts than just a bottle of water and a frisbee is a good idea.
Just in case say, ... your car eats it's water pump/alternator belt (at the start of the 2nd session) and it's a public hol (like Easter Friday) and everything is shut except petrol stations....
Using a mates car I hit about 10 before finding the Gasoline Alley in Tuakau (a tiny 2pump operation) was the only place that had any belts!
5min to install belt, refill radiator & ready to go!

-P.S. The frisbee is to pass the time while I wait to be picked up-
I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.
