Regarding the Kapiti MX5 chapter website;

I have to say that as an IT security guy I really hate websites that try to install software on your PC when you enter them, which is what happened when I just tried that Kapiti MX5 site. It's not a nice introduction IMHO.
It just took me at least 10 clicks to get rid of all the pop-ups and advert rubbish. I won't be going back there again

Interestingly enough it did it with FF as well, but thanks for the tip
on the add-ons, I'll take a look at those.
My mandatory addons* (in order of importance)...

No Script (Block javascript and malicious code by default)
Adblock Plus (Block ad crap - uses known ad server lists etc)
Bookmark Sync & Sort (Sync bookmarks at home/work on my ftp server)
Greasemonkey (Tailor websites for what you want to see with scripts)
Forecast Fox (Weather!)
Tabbrowser Preferences (Change tab browsing behavour)
FoxyProxy (Select proxys easily - I run a privoxy server)
Opensearchfox (Select new search engines by right clicking on any site)
Bugmenot (Bypass sites that require annoying free registration)
Downloadhelper (Easily download content from sites such as Youtube)
World Clocks (For when travelling)
RSS Ticker (Scrolling RSS feeds, sync'd to firefox live bookmarks)

Incidentally I've got RSS feeds working for the MX5 Forum, I'll release
them soon. Some minor changes to complete.

RSS feeds telling you of new forum posts with a Ticker are great!

* some are Windows only so I can't use them at home:

Z,

Great list - many thanks. I'll look forward to the RSS feeds coming live. I use Feedreader 3.09 and it's really good.

That's why it's called chat :) OK, I'll move it to another thread...

Good, but can you use your own server? Last time I looked you had to
upload them to their server like those deli.cio.us type sites.
G-mail manager
Evil gmail - I manage my own mail thanks
Flashgot along with Free Download manager
Ahh, yes - good for bulk page downloads if you're doing that. There is
also a good download addon which I have used which shows your download
status in the task bar. Can't remember its name though...

Yeah the bookmarks use a 3rd party server but it gets synced everyday... for the less technical inclined it's a good option :P

Gotta love gmail... can't live without it... and it doesn't hurt that it's also a 2gb storage drive :D

Download status bar... instead of the download manager in FF it's a small bar on the status bar on the bottom... But after having gotten the Free D/L manager and Flashgot I don't use it any more...

I also have foxclock so I don't mix up time zones... Handy :D
