Reading the posts to date, how so many supposed MX5 enthusiasts could leave the MX5 off their list, beggars belief!!
Some of the world's most respected motoring journalists are in awe of the MX5 (and have been since 1989 to the present)...so don't overlook what is under your very nose folks. A few well chosen mods, and you already have a car which will bring a smile to your face. For those of you who have never driven on the circuit, can I suggest you drive your MX5 on an open day/at an event etc. You will develop a whole new respect for its capabilities....
A friend of mine owns 3 Porches (1 of which he races). He has engineered a GT3 Cup car here and overseas. And guess what...he wants an MX5.
They say dreams are free, well, with an MX5 you can live the dream... 20 or so more HP as a minimum, some modest suspension upgrades and performance tyres, and all you need is a winding road! But enough of this preaching...I apologise!
In my garage would be:
an RX8 (manual of course), koni suspension/T1R tyres
A Porche GT3 cup car for long distance racing
My current MX5, with a Flyin Miata 2 litre naturally aspirated stroker engine as per Keith Tanners Targa build project.
Cheers
