Hi all,
Wondering if anyone could explain how maintenance of communal areas of
apartments et el are funded in NZ. In Uk we have leasehold and commonhold,
with a lease valuation tribunal to resolve disputes, but I have been unable
to figure out what system is used in NZ. Any web links to explanations?

I believe it is a similar system here- A fee is paid to the building management firm who then uses that to maintain the building....although Im not sure if this is paid seperate to the rent or included. My guess is that it differs so it would be best to check with the landlord/land agent.

In NZ these fees are often known as the 'body corporate'.
