I'll be using the following guides and doing this over a weekend. It will take me a while to get everything sorted but I'll keep a record of how it all goes but it'll likely be done over the next 4 months (plus this means I know where to find the links when the time comes)
The exhintake & cambelt part - exhintake is doable for the 1.8 non-vvt

The hla cleaning to stop the ticking - additional step in the exhintake mod

Anyway, step one is done (finally get my hands on an exhaust cam). Step 2 involves getting the cam gear modified and camshaft chopped down. This won't get done for a while though.
If there's anything else worthwhile doing when I'm this far into the engine then pm me please. (water pump?)

Well it's been a while but I'm finally starting on this. Will update as I progress and will attempt to take photos but more likely will just steal other ones from the internet since I'll be covered in oil etc.
Found this nifty mod which I might do next time I take the cover off (if I find a funky one to replace it with) http://www.mx5unleashed.com/tech/valve-cover.html
*Edit*
Took me ages, I gave up and realised I will have to get someone else to do it At least I got to tidy stuff up in the engine bay and got an oil change done...
