Roadster Markings
Someone on the list, maybe Nigel, wrote an interesting note on the meaning of
the various colours of the "Roadster" badges
Today I noticed a green 1997 NA (I thought all the 97s were NB, but there you
go) which had a green Roadster Badge, a colour which I have never noticed
before. Is that badge colour of some significance?

97,s are still NA,S, the green badge normally indicates a "roadster spec"
ie: Bilsteins shocks,LSD,nice Nardi and alloy spec's {alloy kick plates
etc} and usually the Engine is deemed to be "on Song" closer tolerances a
few more horsepower etc, if they are found they come under the "snap 'em
up quick variety".
Cheers

Hi Eric, all 1997 were NA, 1998 was the first yr of the NB but there are the
odd NA that were produced 97 byt not registered till 98 meaning there are the
odd 98 NB - totaly confussed.
Here is the article re the badges
What does that Badge mean??
Have you ever noticed that some cars have a different colour in the "Roadster"
badge on the rear of the car.
Yes they do !! and if you know your colours you can tell a lot about the car.
BLACK - all 1.6 Litre cars(1989 to 1993/94) have black as the colour of
the "Roadster" script inside the chrome badge on the rear
RED - The early1.8 Litre (1993/94) cars had the
"Roadster" script changed to red.
GREEN - August 1995 saw the introduction of the 133bhp Series II 1.8 -
litre engine which featured a 16 bit ECU (Electronic Control Unit) and a
lightweight flywheel to let the engine rev more easily. The 4.3:1 final -
drive ratio was bought back on the 5 speed cars and the "Roadster" script
changed to Green
As a general rule of thumb - if the car has electric rear vision mirrors (
heavier stems) then it is a 1.8 Litre, but as a lot of the Limited edition
cars have manual rear vision mirrors, you need to also check the "Roadster"
script colour!

Thanks Nigel,
It's a bit like Bentleys really, isn't it? "I've got a Red Badge MX5"
No, it doesn't quite sound the same. Oh well, we can dream!

I was just winding u up, a bad habit I have developed recently :0).
I read somewhere on the members list awhile back (maybe it was zorruno??) that most of the 98 NA's are white (which mine is) - and yes for those of you that care I do wave (..and then look sad when no one waves back - except Keith :0)
