A Question or two or three.

My name is Lloyd Ashworth from Tauranga, I have just bought a BRG MX5 and
its the Ltd edition with tan leather seats and black softop...I have a
couple of practical questions that you might help me with or know someone
who could.
1. What is best oil to use in these cars? - needs oil change
2. Changing down from 4th to third gear the syncro is not smooth and it
might need an overhaul in the g/box or new syncro cone...do you know anyone
in Taurang area who knows who might be good for advice or repair of this?
Ive got plenty of other questions...love the car and having great fun it it
(actually its my wifes car but I get to use it as often as i can!!!).

First Lloyd, welcome (perhaps it should be more appropriately addressed
to your wife based on you statement) to a fraternity of individuals who
savour a classic sports car -- especially OLD MAN Ross

I suspect you will find an Encyclopaedia of knowledge willingly prepared
to share its wisdom with you. My own humble input: type of oil is
irrelevant other than a high-grade. Use Mazda oil filters versus Repco,
etc -- there is a distinct difference. Other than that, I humbly defer
to the likes of Gazza, Carl, Ross, Nigel, Simon and of course zorruno
(sorry I didn't win an Oscar so I may have failed to mention someone...
my agent perhaps???) ...

Hi Mike

Bill's right about any grade of oil and the Mazda oil filter. A few people
chatted about oil a few months ago and Magnatec came out popular and not a
stupid price either. Got rid of a noisy tappet, so far I've only done 500km on
the Magnatec, so we'll have to see.

Hi Llyod.
I saw you (I presume it was you ) in your BRG MX5 on Welcome Bay Road the
other day. There are heaps of red MXs in Welcome Bay. I am building a new
house out there and hope to move out that way near the end of the year.
Presently living in Pyes Pa after moving up here from Taranaki in December.
