upsizing tyre profiles

Post by cfever » Sun Sep 25, 2005 10:47 am

Hi All !
Am looking to replace the tyres on my 2002 and considering Goodyear GS
D3's for a quiet ride. Also thinking about moving up a profile to
205/50's instead of 205/45's. The diameter difference doesn't seem
enough to affect performance or speedo read-out, or am I wrong ?
Opinions (keep it clean !!) would be appreciated .

Thanks

Andy (CFEVER)

MessageHi Andy

There is a great tyre size calculator on
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
This will give you the changes between your tyre options and stock, and sort
out any possible speedo errors.

I have slightly larger tyres on my car and the bigger diameter does look nicer
as it fills in the guards more.

By the way does anyone know what the "Stock' tyre size is?

Cheers

We changed ours to 205/50/15... more than happy with the
handling,,,,, sticks like glue when you throw it around .. (not that
we drive like hoons...) tracks a little at very low spees,,, but thats
probably something to do with no power steering in the early
models... good luck,, R & R.

MessageMy "Miata" book lists the tyres as 185/60 R14 (1989 - 1994) with some
specials listed as 195/55 R15 or 195/50 R15 on some sports editions.
