getting sloshed

Post by Graeme H » Mon Jun 27, 2005 5:19 pm

The sill drains are blocked.
You'll find 2 drain holes under the sill, at the jacking points front and rear (there are 2 'bumps' either side of where your jack would go). Find a cable tie or something else slim (I would avoid screwdrivers coz of paint damage)
and gently push it up behind the bump (oo-er missus) (no offence intended :0). This should release lots of grubby, dirty rain water and old leaf debris.

Subject: getting sloshed

Our 1990 NA MX5 was parked all day in the very heavy rain we had in
Auckland on Friday. After this there was a "water sloshing" sound on
start off and braking. Seems to be coming from left front sill area, and
if I park on a slight slope there are drips coming from the sill to
floor pan seam near the front.

I seem to remember a thread on this a while back. I am guessing a drain
tube is blocked in the under-bonnet area in front of the windscreen, but
can't seem to locate it.

All advice and suggestions for a fix gratefully received.

Thanks

Douglas
