Wellington Autocross - Sunday 3rd July

Post by my m5emails » Mon Jun 27, 2005 4:15 pm

For anyone intrested there is another Autocross on at GM Car park, Alexander
Road, Trentham this Sunday 3rd July.

Start is 9:30, so be there before if you intend to race, to get the paper
work out of the way, should finish about 2pm.

As with other Autocross events you need a helmet and overalls (100% cotton
work overalls will do).

Cost is $20.

They have let Mx5s run without any roll bars in the past, as the speeds are
low .

Also you can do two events without needing to belong to a car club.

Our 1990 NA MX5 was parked all day in the very heavy rain we had in
Auckland on Friday. After this there was a "water sloshing" sound on
start off and braking. Seems to be coming from left front sill area, and
if I park on a slight slope there are drips coming from the sill to
floor pan seam near the front.

I seem to remember a thread on this a while back. I am guessing a drain
tube is blocked in the under-bonnet area in front of the windscreen, but
can't seem to locate it.

All advice and suggestions for a fix gratefully received.

Thanks

Douglas

there's a drain hole on either side just behind the seat belt tower
under the carpet, and it drains directly underneath. The tube is
rubber, so stick anything non-lacerating thru it to clear it out.

Did this (mate's car) after the biblical rains on Sat, and the stuff
that comes out is somewhere between mud and compost !! Followed by a
lot of water, lots and lots of water... Looks like the car soiled
itself !

A search on miata.net/garage should produce a better description than mine :)
