What an excellent idea Ken, if we do, I am still looking for the thin
little surround for the stereo and compartment
underneath...=)
And I have a background in sales if we need to move the goods!!!

You make a good point so perhaps I should qualify my aims. Prior to the availability of .MP3 I did put a lot of effort in to sourcing versions on CD / vinyl of tracks that I had on tape. I do therefore have legal copies of (most) of the music that I now have in digital form. However, I have no wish to cause antagonism or offence to anyone on this issue. Perhaps it is a subject best not discussed in open forum.

Apologies in advance to if I have caused any upset, it was not my intention.

apparently it is illegal to even "format-shift" in NZ - ie ripping
your own CD's into MP3 ! :-\

Jeff,
It is completely legal to make duplicate copies of material that
you have bought, as long as you only intend them for your own use.
e.g. Ripping CDs to mp3 for use in your car cd mp3 player. That is the
basis that products suck as minidisc work on.

You bad bad bad pirate boys.

My thoughts if anyone cares, don't rip Kiwi music! And I
really don't give a poo about anyone from oversea's. Rip
away, any chance to get opne back over the yanks is great.

And before someone complains this is about cars, in my MX5 I
only use copies of my CD's because we have the highest car
breakin rate in the world and the government is so soft they
just about condone it. Violence and theft seems to be all OK
here in NZ but rip a USA music CD and all hell breaks loose.

sorry david, i don't mean to be offensive either (it's just a gift i
suppose).
duplicating music you own and trading it online with others are very
different, but you know that.
sorry to sound like an old fuddy-duddy.

It intrigues me that Sony is one of the loudest voices complaining about ripping of music yet they produce players designed to play recorded CD's. go figure- Want their cake and eat it !!!

as usual, I'm basing my format-shifting comment on something that I

I will say that the hottest hot-bed of cd-ripping and copying I've
ever come across was at a music company. Ironically.

Let the conspiracy theories begin ... ;^)
