Black Stereo
Hi Don,
I had the same problem when changing my stereo, I originally bought a Sony,
but it looked like hell.
I eventually bought a VDO unit from Automotive Security Systems on the
Shore which was black with a red display and knobs to match the car, looks
good and sounds good, running through 6 inch (I think) Sony Xplode speakers
from the old system, but not the most user friendly thing to operate. It
was kind of average on price at the time, I think $450 or $499 comes to
mind.
It was the only black one I could find, I have seen them in a couple of
other places too, with blue and green displays, in addition to red.
Regards
Eric

year old male!! Ha-ha
I am after the black just because it doesn't stand out as much as the
silver.

Thanks Eric
A bit rich for me at that sort of price. The one Gazza has would seem to be
more my line but I was a bit late to the sale. Looks like Ken has first
dibs.
I'll keep a weather eye on Trade Me etc
Cheers

They look good thanks.
Now be aware that the next big thing will be MP3 audio from
a DVD RW disk. Some systems are around now. This will mean
700 songs on a single layer disk and over 1200 on a dual
layer disk. Be careful buying now as the new stuff will be
main stream in six months.
Me I'm looking for a basic black to play the odd CD but
mostly just to listen to the radio. Yep I'm old.
Would like a bit of grunt from the head unit though. (still
not that old)
Current system is a Pioneer head unit and looks OK but
display is dim and clock not displayed if system is off. To
make life the easiest I'd prefer a Pioneer as it would just
plug in to the harness. Next preference Alpine. After that
anything.

Far be it from me to know anything about anything technical, but I came
across the following on a UK website. This unit offers 728 different display
colours, so you should be able to find a match not only for your dashboard
display but for your car colour too - whether it be red, silver or BRG.
Shame about the price, though...
