I bought a style bar from this guy http://www.autospec.co.nz/mx5.htm and he
does boot racks, the price was very good and the quality was OK but not
brilliant. all in all value for money I think.

Hi John

Have not got into the glass bit yet. I'm not looking forward to cleaning the
whole of my garage. Oh the joy of glass work. I may and try to rig a booth to
stop the dust spread (and wear a good mask). I have not got a sanding
attachment for my grinder, but I do have a belt sander, I'll give that a go
first.

Looking form the back the hoops are not even with the seats, but that's a
limitation of the bending and no the workmanship. On the workmanship side
there was splatter around the welds and they were not great welds either. The
guy who did the chroming didn't do a great job either as I can see colourings
in the chrome near some joints. To be honest I was pretty disappointed when I
unpacked them. I'll make some of my own someday.

One word of advice, if you want some style bars, make sure they are well back
and above form your head. Secondly look how far you have your seat set back,
many style bars sit directly between the seat belt posts and you lose 50-75mm
of back seat travel. I got the Autospec ones as they sit back a little. If you
are keen I can send photo's.

Also don't expect a speedy delivery I think he's pretty busy. From memory they
were about $325.00. He often has them in stock so you can ring first. Also get
the 45mm as the 38mmm is a bit insignificant (IMHO).
