Head lights problem solved

Post by Mikkels » Mon May 23, 2005 8:26 pm

Well I thought I'd update the list on the fix for my 1990 headlights.
Problem was they became very unreliable on low beam. Just touching the stick
caused them to go out. A couple of weeks ago they quit altogether. (still
worked on high beam). I figured it was a switch problem. I priced a new
switch complete $360, priced a part that apparently you can replace in the
switch block for the lights $78. So this weekend I took off the plastic
surround and gave the thing a complete bath with CRC CO Contact clean. No
impact whatsoever. Resigned to getting a new switch. Today tried the
lights when I went to go home from work, voila! The contact clean must have
done its job overnight and dried out completely. 100% working with no
flakey behaviour. Thanks Mr CRC
