Hey Bert,

We're not ignoring you, I don't know enuff to comment on springs and shocks
but recommend running 96 in your car, it think that was generally the
concensus last time the topic came up but i'm sure one of the more informed
can tell you why,

congrats on the new acquistion, hope you have lotsa TD fun!

For all normal purposes the car should be fine on 91, but several members have
reported better economy and power on 96, with the ignition set to 14 degrees
BTDC.
I guess you pays your money and makes your choice, neither will hurt it

I run my 1992 (195,000km) on 96. I have made no changes to the timing or
anything else. Compared to running on 91, the car has slightly more power
(especially more torque at lower revs) is quieter and smoother. The economy
has improved as well, more than compensating for the about 4% extra cost of
96.
I have recently bought a 1998 (NB) 1.8 with 46000km. This car has a lot more
torque over a wider rev range. I am running it on 96 at present but will try
it on 91 once I have some accurate economy figures to compare. So far it is
quite a lot more economical than the 1992 car for the same type of use, even
making use of the better performance.
Both these cars are automatics as well so the improved torque is probably
more apparent because of the torque sapping trans.
They're both green so of course this helps!

I switched to 96 a few months ago. No discernale difference in
economy, but just a bit zippier feel. So I have stuck with it...
seems a bit more fun for no cost.

Anyway, you should always feed your stock the best you can afford!

A 1999 would be a MkII which will automatically adapt to what ever fuel you
put into it - within reason :-)
