While doing a regular brake check/lube yesterday i
found that one of the rear pads has come away from the
backing plate...B*&^#R!!
Since the car will soon (cough cough) have a lot more
power Ill just replace the lot with some fast road
pads.
Has any got any suggestions or experience with high
perf pads??
Looking so far at:
Porterfield R4S
EBC Greenstuffs
Hawk hp plus
Any other suggestions??
Also any one replaced rotors? what sort of cost??

Hi Glen, given that Don has a nos fired turbo in his 89, he would be a good
place to start. Iam sure he changed the rotors as well.
Cheers Nige

I used Porterfield RS4 pads (from Flyin' Miata) on Brembo drilled/slotted
rotors (from Moss - Miata Mania
http://www.miatamania.com/Shop/ViewProd ... exID=36133). The rotors
were on special (this was a couple of years ago) at around USD50 each. I've
just looked they're USD129/pair at the moment. They're #$%^ heavy so you
won't want to airmail them!
The Porterfield pads were great for fast road use. On my favourite 45km
test track up the Awhitu peninsula, which has four straights(never exceeding
100kph of course) leading in to 2nd gear hairpins, they worked perfectly
every time - the standard weet bix pads faded badly by the fourth one. Also
they didn't leave black muck on my expensive alloys.
Actually I notice my old car with these mods is for sale on Trade Me at the
moment (with Konis and expensive alloys too) - maybe you should just buy
that (it's silver not green).
I had stainless brake lines too, but they weren't worth the WoF/compliance
aggro.
