Beautiful Country

Post by Colin » Fri Jan 21, 2005 5:30 pm

Bill,
What a bloody marvellous trip it must have been!
Thank you for forwarding your maps.
A brief look told me that I have myself driven many of these roads.
Mostly not in the MX though.
I represented a company in the SI introducing a new product range and
did several two week driving trips.
Excellent, all absolutely excellent.
I will have a closer look over the weekend and may end up with some Q's.
Thanks again.

Bill, can I have some idea of the roads you ran?

I got my MX5 about three weeks ago and from Rotorua have traveled:

Gisbourne, Taupo, Napier, Hastings, Wanganui, New Plymouth, Aukland,
Tauranga (and all theplaces inbetween).

My fave road so far was the gorge leading into Gisbourne from Whakatane. A
road comparable to the highlands of Scotland! Beautiful.

If you can give me an idea of some of the good roads you ran in your trip
anywhere in the NI I would be gratefull - I'm on the look out!

Thanks.

Alex

I have marked road maps of both the N & S islands indicating the route I
drove which also indicates where I stopped each day. I've reduced each
map down to a single A4 page. Each is about 1 MB.

I don't believe we are permitted to post attachments on the list. Send
me your personal email address and I'll forward them to you.

I concur with your assessment, there is a lot of beautiful geography to
see on both islands, though I personally find the scenery in the South
Island has more impact.
From strictly a driving perspective, both islands have a lot to offer
with the South Island providing more sparsely populated country which
enables one to cover vast areas of territory quicker.

Regards
Bill
