8" speakers

Post by Grant » Sun Apr 10, 2005 6:28 pm

I have just replaced the original Bose system in my 1998 NB with a JVC G-805
unit. Thanks to the list I found out about www.parrellimported.co.nz and
saved $220.00 on the best price I could find here in Blenheim! I replaced
the speakers with 6.5" ones I had. I would like to fit 8" ones (the original
size) but can't find any. Anyone know where I can find some? I have thought
about fitting 6x9's but don't want to buy a pair and then find they won't or
can't be made to fit. I don't want to mount speakers in the rear deck as I
am aleready using the wasted space there for storage of other equipment.
I had thought about using the original Bose amplifier and speakers but due
to the problems of interfacing the JVC to the Bose amp and the problems some
people have with the Bose speakers I decided not to at this stage.
The audio quality is so much better than the Bose already but I am sure
could be improved at the bass end.
I know it's difficult to improve on the inherent quality of a GREEN with tan
leather, but I am willing to try.

8" speakers

Post by SLYDIT » Sun Apr 10, 2005 8:27 pm

A while ago Pioneer did a 8" 3 way speaker and that
was it...
But i havent checked lately who else has started doing
one, maybe fusion etc..They may not fit under the
factory grile with regard to the height of the tweeter assemblies.
one thing to note though is that the speakers are
often priced by volume sold so a low volume seller
like a 8" will probably be more expensive than a
better quality 6.5",Id go for a better quality 6.5'
any time...
