Oil filters. Other than Mazda original, are there any brands that work better
(or worse) than others ? My oil pressure is reading lower after a recent oil
and filter change. Is there anywhere to buy original spec. filters at a
friendly price ?
Also. after market air filters, in particular cone style filters. Anyone got
any good/bad experiences/prices to share ?
Cheers

Howard,
I've used both Mazda and Repco oil filters and haven't noticed any
difference between them. A lower pressure reading could be a sign that you
have the wrong amount of oil in your engine. My old engine used to burn oil
and I could tell that it was getting really low by the oil pressure reading.
Also Morven's, (my wife) MX5 has a cone HKS air filter, which I'm really
impressed with. It came with the car and as far as I can tell, it's the only
non-standard performance part on the car. Her car seems noticeably faster
than mine and the sound is just gorgeous. When I get time, I need to swap
the air filter over onto my car to make sure that it is the source of all
that extra fun
Hope this helps
