more on GTX's and MX5's

FYI there's an MX5 running round Albany with a GTX motor transplant,
apparently it is a little weapon, so hopefully via mate of aquiantance etc
I'll get in touch with the owner. On a standard GTX motor @ standard boost
pressure it will give STi WRX's a run for their money (!!!).

So who knows how much a GTX motor would cost ?

Once I get details of this beasty I'll put up pictures/specs/any info I get.
Apparently it's got a number plate that gives the game away...

My nephew was telling me about this car recently, he was quite impressed
with it by all accounts, and knows the owner. I'll see if I can get some
details for you.

The one who my friend knows of (he doesn't own it anymore) is silver with a
custom body kit (HSV front), is this it?
Should cost much more than $5-600 for a GTX engine but up to $2500 for a GTR
engine which I would recomend due to stronger factory internals and bigger
turbo etc.

The MX5 in question is a white one.

How would I convert the distributor to an management based system ? I've only
lived in the TTZ world where there's no such thing as a dizzy! My guess is with
the management would already be wired to the crank angle sensor (assume the GTR
already has one for injection), the ems then has outputs for the 4 sparks,
they'd have to go through some coils somewhere, I've read the the MSD DIS system
is quite beneficial so I'd put that in as well. Ideally I'd like to use the LINK
with the wealth of tuning info around it makes sense to go that direction. We've
run a couple in some big HP Z's without problems (and been tonnes better than so
called 'top of the line' Jim Wolf chips), and a mate ran one in his GTX w
Antilag and all the rest, which ran very well.

At $2500 I'd almost drop a GTR engine straight in and run it for a while without
a rebuild whilst I set up the rest of the car.

Rest assured I'm going to detail alllll of this so there's almost going to be a
how to manual on 600plus ! All I seem to think about is mulling over these
power:weight ratios.. it's just scary !

I just met up with an old friend of mine last night. He has a GTR 323. It is
running a max of 1.5 bar (approx 21psi) and no problems so far, apart from
the g/box. So the GTR engine can handle some abuse.
