Where for roofs?

Post by zorruno » Fri Aug 03, 2001 1:14 pm

because of the huge response to this ;) I found out some info in case anyone
else was looking at roofs. These are all new roof prices quoted to me today

Als Upholstery - Auckland
Robbins brand top, 3 year warrantee $1150+GST installed. If your car is
older than 92 (I think) you will also need two brackets ($90+GST for 2) that
stop rubbing when folded or you don't get the warrantee
Robbins top as above uninstalled, no warrantee $950+GST

Autoway Services - Hamilton
Robbins top unfitted $898+GST
Cheaper brand unfitted @$780+GST

Where for roofs?

One thing to bear in mind when asking for quotes on roofs is to ask the question,
"does it come with the rain rail", this is the plastic part that rivets to the bottom
of the roof, and directs the water round to the drains, some you can swop, if your
old roof has one of course, have seen many without, hence water in the car, and to
buy the rain rail separately is not cheap, most are generally brittle with age or
have spits in them, or they get split trying to remove them, some Robbins roofs are
supplied without them, and some come with them, and there is also a version that
does not unzip, the plastic window on these is a lot thinner to ease when folded,
in my opinion Robbins roofs are the best, so make sure you ask for a quote on the
type you need and can afford, Moss Motors USA stock them all, so you can deal directly
with them, Rotary power in Glenfield is also an agent for Moss Motors.
