Valve cover removal & soft top

Post by Kevin & Gina O'Brien » Sat Jun 23, 2001 11:39 am

Ref. Miata magazine fall 1994
Article on changing Timing belt (cam belt)

Remove cam cover. The thirteen chrome acorn headed bolts will all have to come
out (use a 10mm deep socket), as will the spark plug lead ends, and the two
crankcase vent hoses will have to be disconnected. Don't forget the two black
bolts at the rear (12mm wrench or socket) that hold the ignition module to the
engine - they go through the aluminum cam cover and will have to be removed.

Hope this will help.

I've been checking on soft tops myself and Mazda will let me have one $1500 +
GST Normally over $2000.
From what I've read the Robins top is in some ways better and is cheaper
these figures are from memory but about $1340 fitted and it was about $250 for
fitting. Check with Als Upholstery 09 4431 581

There are also some excellent articles on the net for fitting the top
yourself. Apparently a slightly frustrating 6 to 8 hr. Job.

Regards
Kevan
