I'm guessing the OEM speakers are only rated at about 7-10W RMS by their
construction. This is matched to the OEM head unit OK.

Most aftermarket head units on the market today have about a 15-25W RMS
output. Top that off with the fact that OEM speakers in the MX5 deteriorate
pretty quickly as lots of moisture gets inside the door panels - and sun on
the cones, and I would say that if you _ever_ upgrade your head unit you
should upgrade your speakers also.

Don't even think about trying to reuse the OEM ones.
