In a world of 'Knock offs", semi real, virtual, almost, replica's and all
the other excuses for the "right" one, I employee you ...don't do it!
Fakes are always fakes and fake wood trim ...well enough said.
Otherwise, I like very much that you are into your car enough to care.

Wooden' you know it???
Wooden' you know it???
Hey there guys,
Just wondering you any of you know where I could get
those imitation plastic wood grain mouldings - the
type that fit around the console controls and
handbrake grip. - And does anyone know of a good
second hand polished wooden grain steering wheel for
sale?
Your help, advice, or just direction would be
appreciated.
Sincerely
Andreas ... one of the lads,

Wooden' you know it???
hi Andreas
If you wanted to be really tricky, you could go to a bathroom or kitchen
place and find some sort of woodgrain vineer (sp?) and cut/install it
yourself. I suspect that most building woodgrain panelling would be a bit
thick to cut and bend however. Some aftermarket vendors in the US and UK
(try Moss or finishlineperformance.com) do have kits, and they are about
US$150-200.
And if you like the retro look - go for it I say - I've seen some pictures
of some pretty cool looking retro/wood grain type MX5s. It is this sort of
thinking that makes every MX5 an individual
(As for fake wood grain -
unfortunately I haven't seen any real wooden centre consoles or dashboards
available commercially for the MX5, so fake it will have to be!)
I also believe Chic L has a nice woodgrain wheel for sale.
