This has probably been talked about before, but does anyone know if you can
put 205s on wheels that currently have 195s on them? (tyres)

we need a bit more info about your car, wheel size, suspension mods, etc:
if your car is stock, 205's would be a waste of money on stock wheels, they
will fit but can make the car handle worse than the stock size of 185x14

All I know is that the mags are 15" and we currently have 195s on them. I've
no suspension info.

I've got two Bridgestones (Grid II) on the front and desperately need two new
rear tyres. To get another two matching Bridgestones I'd be up for about
$450-$500 fitted and balanced/aligned.

I've been offered by a friend two new tyres which are Firestone 205s for $100
each (no they are not hot!). So if they are OK to use I can save some serious
cash!

Would it be safe to have two 195s and two 205s on at the same time? If so,
which should go on front and which on back?

I do heaps of Kms a week as I live in the country and work in the city so I
need tyres that would be good for 400+kms a week (and I tend to view corner
speed signs as suggestions rather than law...MX5s love those corners!) If
"rolling" is an issue for the 205s I'd rather pay the extra and challenge
those corners...

Under no circumstances should you mix tyre sizes on an MX5, stick with the G grid
they are a good all round tyre, put the new ones on the front, they are directional
if i remember correctly, i personally would not even consider any firestone tyre
for an MX5 (my opinion) how much is your neck worth only $200, you've already commented
about the cornering fun, 195's are perfectly ok for 15in rims, and get a good alignment
front and back.
