hi all
Does anyone here have some advice,pros/cons of getting a lightweight copy of the 1.8 flywheel machined up? I'd like a lighter, equally strong version to go with my new clutch - the OEM one is a bit of a porker! If anyone else is interested I could even get some extras made up. Good for the 1.6 forced-induction crowd.
PS - did the search, but only found a pretty cursory discussion of it...

HiJeff.
I have a classy white jelly bean which has been modified with a flowed head, exhaust cam advanced one tooth, flowed header's & exhaust, I recently had 6lb taken out of the flywheel.Enough to make a real difference with-out losing
to much flywheel action (losing revs going up hills).
performace gained is real good.

Good idea, I've got a 12lb racing beat version.
More pro's than cons, some lighter f/wheels are prone to a metallic grinding
noise on overrun. Sounds bad but isn't.
If you're trimming the standard wheel, be careful. Cast f/wheels don't take
to kindly to too much machining.

Good for the N/A brigade too.Helps breathless b6's rev out faster and improves throttle response no-end...plus you can shift more quickly as revs fall fast on lift off, too.
