Hmmm, methinks its got out of hand. I'm not taking sides either but to
say that fitting spacers is an insult to the cars design, weeeeeeelllll,
how about fitting turbo/super chargers? Adjustable shocks? Anti-roll
bars? Suspension/Tower braces? Different tyres to stock? Hmmmm,
perhaps we all have insulted the design in that case.
I also like to read about these things, I don't know that much about
these sorts of modifications, even if I've been involved with cars, in a
big way (I'm an apprenticed fitter by trade) but I have lots of areas
lacking. So thanks for the info on the spacers, I will now go and find
out a lot more information about them before I make a decision. Lou I
value your opinion also, but let us make our own minds up.
A bit disappointed that you are throwing your toys out of the cot just
because someone disagrees with you though Sean...
Still that was my tuppence worth.

No No, don't misunderstand. Suspension design is a science, and the
geometry is very specific. Sticking on spacers completely negates it.
Adding more power through a supercharger, turbo etc, or aftermarket
shocks (designed for the car) or springs etc will vary the performance
while remaining in general in harmony with the original design. On Wed, 4

No ill feelings on my part, the list needs a rev from time to time.
Graeme, modifying your car is one thing. But getting partial advice which
could be dangerous is another. Braces, sway bars, stiffer springs, shocks etc.
enable you to set your car up for a particular purpose. But most of these do
not alter the basic geometry of the suspension, once you do that you exceed
the design parameters and the risk of failure becomes unacceptable for a road
car.

Mazda have progressively added braces to the car year by year, and they
provided for complete alignment flexibility with the user adjustments
designed in. They don't take the suspension outside of its design
parameters... On Wed, 4 Dec 2002 16:01:26 +1300, Graeme Naisbitt wrote:
Yeah but what about suspension braces etc& designed to stiffen the
suspension? And alignment settings, what if your chosen alignment is the
same as stock?
