No, for Italians - they all drive like learners!
Actually, to be fair when you go to Italy you very rarely see scratched
cars. Some massive dents, yes, but never little scratches. I saw someone run
over by an Alfa Romeo on a pedestrian crossing in Florence one day and all
you could see was a pair of legs sticking out of the broken windscreen. Some
helpful passer-by pulled the poor guy out by the legs (I'm not making this
up) and he came out swearing all the way, exchanged a few choice words with
the driver (I only know a few rude words in Italian and he used all of them,
several times) then walked off!
That's a classic Ferrari design - goes back to at least the Dino 246 and I
think beyond that. Sounds lovely.

the chrome gate goes back to at least 1948 for the Ferrari 155
barchetta...or go back to the Bentleys of the late 1920's

Well, this learner of Italian descent will gladly take up a challenge. Lets
say 10 laps of Taupo in Feb.

Is that Italian descent as in 'Whoops, we dropped the sail'?
I'm not nearly stupid enough to take on an Italian in a fast driving
competition. One trip across Turin with six of us in a Fiat 126 which the
driver thought was an F40 was quite enough for me! Fortunately, I was young
and stupid at the time and my Italian girlfriend was doing a good impression
of an airbag...
Sorry to sound ignorant, but is there an event at Taupo in Feb?

Yes they were, actually.
Where do I get details of the 'driver training day'? I'm sure I could do with
some.
