Intercoolers (was HPC coatings)

Post by Mathew » Tue Sep 10, 2002 8:47 am

This may be the case with a turbo, but with the Jackson Racing/Sebring supercharger setup that Lou and I have an air to air intercooler is not a good option. I have read of several experiments with them (all in the US) and none of them could be classed as a sucess (made the cars drive like it had bad turbo lag). There are a few water to air (or is that air to water?) intercoolers available and results from them seem very impressive but then again so is the price (US$1000). In order to sort out the tuning to get maximum performance without detonation you would need an aftermarket ECU and by the time you get it fitted and tuned you can kiss goodbye to at least $2000. I haven't seen Lou's water injection setup, but from what I've heard its been working well for several years, it cost him less than $200 to make and it allows him to runs similar timing to what you'd get using the ECU or W/A cooler. Money Talks Eh!!
