From what I hear, they mostly don't need soft tops either ahem...

Got caught out yesterday in the supermarket car park though, lovely and
sunny when we went in, 5 minutes later - puddles of water on the seats... oh
well, it wasn't mine but my partners Jellybean. And they do dry out quite
quickly, quicker than the clothes anyway.

Hi Sean,
If you're talking about a JRSC, you can fit it yourself if you have
reasonable mechanical knowledge. It takes about 5 - 6 hrs depending on spec.
There is also a great deal of info available from club memebers who have
done it ( like me). There are several suppliers in USA eg. BR Performance,
Moss Motors, contact them for prices and freight

Not having any experience of supercharged MX5's (except what I've read on
other sites - some of these tend to have quite biased opinions)... I've a
few questions you may be able to answer.
Are you happy you supercharged your MX5 - i.e. would you do it again?
Is your gearbox/diff handling the additional hp/torque?
and lastly... How do you think the JRSC stacks-up against turbo charging
(costs vs performance gains vs weight/complexity etc).
Any info appreciated.

Hi Martin,
I'm very pleased with the JRSC on a cost/performance basis, if I had more
dosh I might have looked at alternatives. The JRSC gives very linear power,
just like stock only more everywhere. Makes it more controllable than most
turbo set-ups. Particularly in our damp climate.The G/box and diff has been
fine for over 50,000km's, I did fit a VLSD though, the original diff was
still healthy. It comes down to how much you abuse it.
The practical limt for a JRSC seems to be 180rwhp. This requires
considerable fuel and ign management add-on's plus some form of charge
cooling, WI or intercooler or both.
With turbo's the sky's the limit 250rwhp plus if you've got the cash for the
kit plus brake, suspension and diff upgrades.

Sounds like a good compromise between cost/performance/reliability/control.
And... 150+ RWHP in an MX5 would be lots of fun!
One last question... Is your MX5 a 1.6 or 1.8?
