Lights ... Again?

Post by Louisa Currie » Thu May 16, 2002 9:46 am

A rather expensive solution would be to purchase a Mk II :)

But all silliness aside - I too have this problem, the lights block my
vision but mostly going up hill.

Maybe us shorties should drive with booster seats???

should drive with their tops down >:o)

Hi Sean...

There's a "Low Profile" light kit available in the USA... It uses
twin small round lights per side... Its a bit pricy though, at US$400
or so...

If you want to know how to make your own... you need to make some
mounting hardware to hold the bulb/reflectors... but the big "secret"
is to make shorter arms for the actuator arms... thats how the max
height is reduced...

Fletch.

Your right Fletch, i think its Brainstorm that sells the kits, almost bought a set
myself, they come in a complete kit including the perspex covers, my buddy down the
road from me has a set and i think he had to paint the the inners to match his car,
and were very simple to fit, he had to spend a lot of time aligning them for the
WOF, cos they dipped to the right, but they look pretty cool, if anybody on the North
shore wants to have a look the car is for sale, or i can find out more details or
take them to see the car.

Something else worth considering is to upgrade the sealed beams. Hella lamp
inserts with H4 60/55W cool blue bulbs are $98 each (GST incl). That gives
you upto 50% more light, 10-20m more distance, according to the website
http://www.hella.co.nz/newprod/xenon_ultra/index.html. That way at least
your wife might see things sooner.

The difference is amazing - I can follow other cars around a corner, and
although they're already illuminating the signs and cateyes, my lights will
probably double/triple the illumination.

I have a friend in Holland who has carried out a modification to his front
blinker / parking lights so that he can use them as headlights. I will share
the details with the list once I hear more.

You seem very negative at the moment Matt. Get the top down on your car ,go
for a long drive ,and have a happy day.

Hi there

dont think its negative telling someone the info is already available. Why let the guy compile his own instructions when we already have them.

cheers

I put it in the category of helping ones mates- it was advice and certainly
not a sales pitch! I certainly have to agree with Gary.
