Second hand engine prices

I was at Mazspare in Avondale, Auck today and just as a matter of interest,
asked the price of second hand MX5 engines.

A number of people have asked me about buying cheap MX5s, and what the worst
case scenario would be if the engine was shot when they bought it (unlikely
for an MX5 but it is possible...)

They sell 1.6L (and have a number in stock) for $650+GST with a 6 month
warranty.

They only occasionally get 1.8s (and have none at the moment) and sell them
for around $1250+GST
