I took my baby in for her 3 monthly "On Road" inspection today. Quietly
confident. But when she return, I was informed that she had failed on
a -brake fluid leak at left rear ecliper- I was gutted, so I quickly drove
around to the local garage. And my god did he laugh at me. He called me the
unluckiest barstard in the world because he says that this particular part
never fails. He also says that he will have to order the part from over seas
as it isnt stocked anyway and is exspensive.
Has anyone else ever experienced this delemar, or have any idea how big a
problem this is or should be?
Thank You

Rear Ecliper
Hi Johno - If your local garage called it an Ecliper, I think you have more
of a problem to worry about. And personally I wouldn't go to any garage
with a mechanic that laughs at me...
If there is a fluid leak, it may just require a brake seal rebuild kit - I
think about $100 from mazda.
Worst case scenario (if it is indeed a leak at the calliper somewhere) is a
replacement calliper, brake line etc. Can't be more than a couple of
hundred second hand or from a wrecker. Someone may have one if they have
upgraded to 1.8 brakes from 1.6 (you don't say what year yours it though) or
to a big brake kit.
You may want to get a second (and sensible) opinion.

Thanks zorruno, mines a 1.6L 1990 model. Ecliper was what was written on my
"On Road" vechile testing form. I have absolutely no idea, never noticed a
thing.
