I have a 1990ish Jap import. The CD player used to work with
intermittent refusal to start playing a CD, now never plays at all.
Radio is fine. Does anyone have any suggestions / information about
getting it fixed without spending a fortune?
CD players?
CD players?
Mark,
The replacement part is...a new player.
Can't find lasers anywhere for them.

It doesn't exactly match your description, but check out Miata.net for
this very common MX-5 OEM stereo problem...

It may not be your problem, but I bet it helps out a few listers... I
did this fix about five years ago...
Fletch.

CD players don't last much beyond 10-15 years so for $500+/-$100 you could replace the original unit with a much better state of the art cd/tuner...Sony, Pioneer, Kenwood,Blaupunkt etc.etc.etc

Yeah, I saw that, and I have occasionally had that problem too...
(Summary: radio won't turn on. Take it out and connect two leads on
the back. Fixed.)
