...next time you're passing by your local magazine shop, drop in and check out page 9 of an australian magazine called ZOOM. It shows an M1 mx5 in the process of having a mid-mounted V8 fitted to it.Everything behind the origional fuel tank area is being re-fabricated and it will eventually extend the wheel base by 330mm. The standard fuel tank will be replaced by one at the front. The rear suspension is a mix of series IV RX7, Jag and custom parts. Oh! and its not just a boring old chev of Ford V8 either, but a 3.5 litre, 40 valve, eight throttle motor that started life in a 1997 Ferrari 355. It will use an Autronic SM2 computer, complete with traction and launch control to make the most of what will be a 400hp engine in a 1000kg shell. An it'll be road registered!!.
