Yeah right. Until he went away to pretend to check his stock to save face. Will not have my car serviced there again. The Service Manager did not
believe the filter hadn't been changed until he checked his stock and
found an extra filter.

Damaged/marked up gasket, some residual sealant used when installing, a
missing rubber ring, the plastic bag not sealed with some parts in and out
of it, etc. It was amazing --- my friend simply noticed some 'dirt marks'
on the inside wall of the carton where the flap opens/closes and as a
result started investigating the items inside to discover the stuff just
mentioned. If we had assumed everything was legit we would have had to make
a return trip to replace it. As it was we had to drive to a different store
to get "a really new" kit.
I suspect in this case as in the mechanic situation below one doesn't know
if it was caused by employee laziness, a legitimate oversight, or a
conscious lack of business integrity. Regardless as consumers are only
option is to check and verify. I always ask for the used/defective parts
from the servicing garage though I suspect a dealership would always have
an ample supply of used parts "on hand" to rip you off with.
Is there a place on the web site for feedback of this type, a 'consumer
reports' section on suppliers and service providers?

Something tells me that dealer service departments might score about the same as politicians when it come to integrity!
